Starting a new business or establishing a company is an easy task, but deciding on multiple factors that need to be considered first is a little tricky and challenging. The most important thing to consider while registering a company is the name of it. Register a company name is not as easy as it looks; you have to follow some steps and guidelines. You have to register the name at the company’s house. The most daunting task is how to choose the company name.

How to choose a company name:

There are several things that must be considered while deciding for the name of your business.

The name should be unique:

You must use a unique name for your company. The name you are going to use must not be identical to an existing company or business name. It is usually not permitted to register any business name that has a similar name to another company in your area, state, or province. Try to pick a unique name which plays a role in turning your small business into a brand. People will usually identify your products with your brand name. Thus, selecting an attractive and defining company name is the initial step towards owning a successful business.

Check the registered names index:

There are two main methods to check the name availability. One method is the formal method and second is the informal method.

Informal method: It is the simplest method which can be done by anyone without making much effort. Simply, get on the internet and search on Google by your chosen company name and search is there any other company who has already taken this name or not. If there is no company registered, then you are on the right track. The preferable way to pick a company name is three to four words as compared to one or two word names.

Formal method: Once you got success in picking up a company name that does not appear on Google, then the next step is to do a proper name search with your local state or province. It usually costs under $50. You can hire a lawyer, an accountant, or a solicitor to do this task of running a formal name search. In this process, you have to give three different names of your preference, and he will determine by the search which one of those three is available for registration.

This is simple and the most common method of register a company name. With the proper knowledge about the legal process, registering a business or a company name is the simplest task.
